7 Fuel
Employees are responsible for ensuring that only the correct fuel is purchased, as incorrect
fuel can lead to serious engine damage. In the event that an employee puts the wrong fuel in
their vehicle, they must not, under any circumstances, start up the vehicle. They should make
arrangements for the fuel to be drained from the tank prior to starting the engine.
Should this occur, employees must inform their line manager immediately. Employees should
be aware that Biffa may consider such action to be negligent, which could result in an
employee being required to pay for the cost of any repairs or replacement fuel. They may
also be subject to disciplinary action.
Under no circumstances should anyone use company / depot fuel for a company car or
private car. Any usage will be subject to Biffa's Disciplinary Policy and Procedure and may
result in action up to and including summary dismissal.
Vehicle Accessories
Tow bars for " EV's and PHEVs are not available through the company car scheme if you have
a towing requirement you will need to select a petrol or diesel vehicle, but you must get the
lease company permission to retro fit this at your own cost. Alternatively use the salary
sacrifice scheme for PHEV and EV vehicles when you have a towing requirement.
8 Maternity / Adoption and Shared Parental Leave
If an employee goes on maternity, adoption or shared parental leave, they are entitled to
keep their company car or cash allowance for the duration of their leave, unless their
intention is to leave permanently. If they decide to leave permanently, they will be required to
